Welcome to the World Traditional Dancer of Yoshimura Kio

Greeting

“Tsuru and Yuu” which I performed in my recital last July was a kind of Japanese operetta. Fortunately, the recital received favorable reviews.
This year we have a public performance planned on July 20th, which is titled “Kotengeinou Mandara”, where you can enjoy various kinds of Japanese performing arts. Shinnai Nakasaburo, a living national treasure, along with some experienced young performers will appear in “Kotengeinou Mandara”. All of them are the first-class.
I hope all of you come and enjoy the performance.

What's Kamigatamai (Jiutamai)?

Kamigatamai was born in Kyoto and Osaka in the middle of Edo Period (1800s). It was danced in a zashiki (a Japanese-style drawing room) lighted by candles. Jiuta means gsongsh in Kyoto and Osaka. The dance is more reseved than Kabuki dance. Its expression looks deeply inside the human character.
